Drive-in gas stations weren’t just about fuel : they helped create American driving culture, and shape our love of adventure. Where there once stood a 1930's filling station in the heart of Marietta now stands a new event space called The Third Door — one that nods to a time of elegant parties, flirtatious jazz music and wild, youthful spirits. There’s a lot goin’ on behind our closed doors and we’d like to let you in on a few secrets about who we are, why we’re here, and when you’ll be able to ankle in and enjoy some company.
WHO ARE WE?
We’re simply live wires fascinated with the Roaring Twenties, the Prohibition era, speakeasies and puttin’ on the Ritz for our family and friends. Even though we live in a fast-paced, digital world, sometimes you just want to sneak away for a few minutes and spend some quality time in an intimate joint - ya dig ? So we set out to create that sort of place just off the Marietta Square, a quaint and historic town with a lot of characters — just like us — and we call our place The Third Door.
WHY THE THIRD DOOR?
We happened upon a contemporary novel, Murder Knocks Twice by Susanna Calkins, that captured the essence of the ‘20s Prohibition era complete with glam, secrets and suspense. We thought Susanna's novel – and its setting, a Chicago speakeasy known as The Third Door – was the "bee’s knees," so the name stuck with us. And if you’re really jake, you might even find… the third door itself.
A LOOK INSIDE OUR JOINT
We’re in the business of makin’ memories, and our new event space might just be the perfect answer for your celebration or soiree. The Third Door is a fun, unique and flexible space built to host small to medium-sized events, while still offering that intimate vibe we’re all lookin’ for.
Step off the sidewalk and you'll find 3 different spaces designed to fit each and every need : our speakeasy lounge — a nifty area for grabbing a bite or serving yourself some giggle water or something dry; the jalopy gallery — our “white box” and your blank slate for creating an event space to suit your imagination; and the pump yard — our front patio where you can just beat your gums or take up a game of corn hole with your friends.
The Third Door also serves as a showroom for Temperance Trailers, our carefully restored vintage trailers used for mobile bartending, and for Happier Camper, the retro-styled pull-behind campers built in Los Angeles and available for purchase by outdoor enthusiasts and mobile business entrepreneurs of all kinds. We think our trailers are the berries, and they’re available to participate in your festivities if that’s your bag.

There’s a lot of work going on behind-the-scenes to bring you a joint where you can get dolled up, sit pretty and enjoy the youthful, nostalgic atmosphere of the 1920s.
